A web portal or page of your favourites can be one of the most efficient things YOU can do for the your ED staff – see the web portal I have started on for Western Health
First, you will need to create a OzEMedicine Wiki account by clicking on LOGIN button top left of the OzEMedicine Wiki, then click on Register and enter your details – ensure I will recognise you as an ED physician as I will be getting an email that you have registered and I will need to decide if I should grant you author status. If there is doubt, I may send you an email to validate you, or ask that you be referred by an existing validated author.
Note that the logon for the Wiki is DIFFERENT to the logon for this BLOG as they are different software systems.
Once you are an author, you can create a NEW PAGE by clicking on a red dashed underlined link (this indicates the page link points to does not exist yet and it will automatically be created if you click on it and then press CREATE PAGE and then SAVE it).
If such a link does not exist, you can easily CREATE A LINK by clicking on EDIT on a given page you want to link from, and then enter code such as [[ami_Mx | Mx of acute myocardial infaction]] then SAVE the page.
Note the syntax fro a link: [[pagename|page description]].
Note also that the pagename cannot have spaces (use underscore instead) and is NOT case sensitive.
You do not need the | page description part if the page description is the same as the page name.
To link to an external website, use [[webpage_URL|web page description]]
Full details on Docuwiki syntax is available here.
It is actually quite easy, and if in doubt, click EDIT on one of my pages and see how I have done it, in particular, the use of ====Main Header==== and ===Sub-Header===.
Now with this information at hand, you can make your own web portal or page that contains all your favourite links.
I have created some links already for Victorian hospitals to use (please click EDIT on this page to see how I have named them to keep some logic to the system) – please see this main index page of favourites to use as a starting point.
To make your life easier, you can copy and paste from other pages by clicking EDIT on those pages, then select text as usual, and copy, then paste into YOUR PAGE. Don’t SAVE changes to other people’s pages – just close that page down.
