chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD)
paediatric doses via inhaler should ideally be delivered using a spacer.
muscarinic M3 receptor action half life 3hrs ⇒ duration action 4-6hrs, max. response at 1.5-2hrs ⇒ qid dosing
dose
moderate-severe paediatric asthma
< 6 years old: (Atrovent 20mcg/puff) 4 puffs then 2 puffs q6h
> 6 years old: (Atrovent 20mcg/puff) 8 puffs

severe-critical paediatric asthma
<20kg 250microg q20 mins x 3 via nebuliser then 2 puffs (40 microg) q6h
>20kg 500microg q20 mins x 3 via nebuliser then 4 puffs (80 microg) q6h
