Introduction
lung or pulmonary crepitations are crackling noises heard mainly on ausculatation
they are traditionally described as either:
coarse - usually due to sputum retention and generally clear on coughing
fine - suggestive of
acute pulmonary oedema (APO)
metallic - suggestive of
pulmonary fibrosis
