Assist-Control Ventilation (ACV)

assisted ventilation
introduction
During ACV, breaths can be triggered by the patient's inspiratory effort or the ventilator.
Each breath is delivered with the set tidal volume and flow.
The work of breathing can be excessive when the peak flow or trigger sensitivity is insufficient
The usual trigger sensitivity on
the LTV 1200 ventilator
is set to 3Lpm.
if one sets the ventilator sensitivity setting to zero in this mode, then patient breaths will be ignored and effectively you have
Controlled Mandatory Ventilation (CMV) or “Control Mode”
which is only used on anaesthetised and paralysed patients.
