obstetric and gynaecology services at Western Health

  • pregnant patients above 16/40 gestation with any pregnancy related problem will now be seen de novo at MAC (Maternity Assessment Centre) 24 hours a day (this is on the 3rd floor of JKWCH).
  • pregnant patients under 16 wks who are stable may be directly referred from triage to EPAS clinic at JKWCH or if this is not possible or they are unstable, may be managed in ED by the EDOG registrar who can be paged on arrival from triage during their hours of duty.
  • pregnant patients under 16 wks with hyperemesis can still be admitted to EOU.

Introduction

  • obstetric and gynaecology services at Western Health are wholly located on the Sunshine campus ONLY
  • as of May 2019, they will be accommodated on the Sunshine site within the new Joan Kirner Womens and Childrens Hospital (JKWCH)
  • in Feb 2019, a dedicated gynae reg role for Sunshine ED commenced and is available midday to 10pm 7 days a week
