• HFpEF prevalence is increasing and now accounts for ~50% of patients with heart failure in Australia
• symptoms are mainly impaired exercise tolerance
• mainly affects older, obese women and those with atrial fibrillation or hypertension
• currently no useful drug Rx but a SGLT2 inhibitor (empagliflozin) should be considered in these patients to help prevent deterioration
