vasopressin (antidiuretic hormone or ADH) is a
vasopressor
(ie. causes vasoconstriction), and is also used in the management of diabetes insipidus and oesophageal variceal bleeding.
as a vasopressor, it is sometimes used in
sepsis / septicaemia
or
anaphylaxis
refractory to
sympathomimetics
such as
noradrenaline / norepinephrine
and
adrenaline / epinephrine
respectaively.

coronary ischaemia
mesenteric ischaemia
pulmonary vasoconstriction
hyponatraemia
skin necrosis from peripheral infusion
anaphylaxis
has been observed after s/c or im injection
