patients with acute onset generalised aches and pains should be initially worked up to exclude underlying sepsis / septicaemia, even if they are afebrile (consider WCC, CRP, blood cultures, etc) or viraemia such as influenza
patients on statins may have statin-induced myopathy which typically presents as pain in thighs - these patients have a raised creatinine kinase (CK) and should have their statin medication ceased.
