Mx in ED

  • oxycodone and similar opiates and opioids should be AVOIDED where possible
    • there is no evidence that they improve patient outcomes, on the contrary, they cause significant issues:
      • sedation
      • constipation
      • nausea and vomiting
      • impaired driving and risk of criminal offences if driving whilst impaired
      • rapid tolerance requiring higher doses leading to dependence
      • increased pain sensitivity
