Kawasaki disease
introduction
- a necrotising vasculitis affecting children involving the medium sized arteries with a predilection for the coronary arteries
diagnostic criteria
- fever persisting for at least five days, plus 4 of the following 5 features:
- changes in peripheral extremities or perineal area
- polymorphous exanthema
- bilateral conjunctival injection
- inflammatory changes of lips (eg. dry, cracked lips) and oral cavity
- cervical lymphadenopathy
