Introduction
- lung or pulmonary crepitations are crackling noises heard mainly on ausculatation
- they are traditionally described as either:
- coarse - usually due to sputum retention and generally clear on coughing
- fine - suggestive of acute pulmonary oedema (APO)
- metallic - suggestive of pulmonary fibrosis
