Myocardial Infarction With Nonobstructive Coronary Arteries (MINOCA)
Introduction
- presumed coronary artery related causes of raised troponin picture consistent with acute myocardial infarction (AMI/STEMI/NSTEMI) but with minimally obstructed coronary arteries on angiography but excludes myocardial causes and type 2 “NSTEMI” events such as PE, shock, RAF.
- appears to have similar 12 month prognosis to AMI patients with 1 or 2 vessel disease 1)
Aetiology
- with minimally obstructed coronary arteries on angiography:
- coronary causes (Myocardial Infarction With Nonobstructive Coronary Arteries (MINOCA)):
- coronary dissection
- plaque disruption
- coronary spasm
- microvascular dysfunction
- coronary thrombus or embolus
