UV sterilisation
- UV-C light with wavelengths of 254nm are typically used to rapidly sterilise air, water or surfaces
- in high humidity environments such as cool rooms, “vacuum UV” 185nm lamps capable of also creating ozone which can oxidize odour-producing chemicals and provide some germicidal activity may also be an option
- UV-C dosage declines the further from the lamp
- most UV-C lamps are mercury-based
- UV-C room sterilisation lamps usually have a motion detection cut off to prevent damaging exposure to human eyes or skin and have a timer that can be set for when the room is not in use
