  • rare genetic collagen disorder usually AD (except kyphoscoliosis and dermatosparaxis, and other less common types) affecting some 1 in 400,000 people
  • several sub types

clinical features

  • skin hyper-extensibility
  • smooth velvety or thin translucent easily bruised skin
  • atrophic scarring, especially on exposed areas such as elbows, knees
  • hypermobile joints
  • some have arterial and uterine fragility, characteristic facies, kyphoscoliosis, and/or other features
