ENA (extractable nuclear antigen)

- ENA is a blood test looking for extractable nuclear antigens which are >100 different soluble cytoplasmic and nuclear antigens.
- autoantibodies to these antigens are associated with particular connective tissue (CT) disorders:
- anti-Sm (for systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE))
- anti-RNP (for MCTD)
- anti-La (for Sjögren's syndrome)
- anti-Ro (for Sjögren's syndrome)
- anti-Scl70 (for scleroderma)
- anti-Jo (for dermatomyositis)
