paediatric emergency resuscitation drugs
Cardiac Arrest
- adrenaline / epinephrine 1:10000 iv 0.1 ml/kg
- adrenaline / epinephrine 1:1000 ETT 0.1ml/kg
- lignocaine 1% solution iv 0.1ml/kg (1mg/kg)
- amiodarone iv 5mg/kg
- Sodium bicarbonate 8.4% iv 1ml/kg
- atropine iv 0.02mg/kg
Supraventricular Tachycardia
- adenosine iv 0.1mg/kg then incremental increases of 0.1mg/kg to a maximum of 0.5mg/kg (max dose 18mg)
Anaphylaxis
- see anaphylaxis
Croup
- adrenaline / epinephrine 1ml of 1% (L-isomer) solution (plus 3ml saline) via nebuliser
- Prednisolone oral 1mg/kg, or,
- Dexamethasone im 0.6mg/kg

Hypoglycaemia
- glucagon im/sc/iv 0.02mg/kg (max 1mg)
- Dextrose 10% iv 4-5ml/kg
Seizure
Rapid Sequence Induction for intubation
- thiopentone iv 2-5mg/kg, or,
- ketamine iv 1-2mg/kg
- suxamethonium iv 1-2mg/kg
- (atropine iv 0.02mg/kg not all practitioners use atropine)
