Overseas trained doctors wanting to work in Australia
- there are many opportunities to work in ED's in Australia as long as you fit the basic criteria for obtaining a working visa in medicine.
- essentially if you are a graduate from the UK, Ireland USA, Canada or NZ, you may satisfy the "Competent Authority Pathway" and thus avoid having to pay for and sit the AMC exams, but you will still need to pay a fee to apply

482 skills shortage TSS Visa
- employer-sponsored temporary FULL-TIME work visa to address Australia's skills shortage
- new 2020 criteria changes:
- evidence must be attached that extensively demonstrates that attempts to recruit Australians (Labour Market Testing) have been made
- demonstrate that no Australian applicant/s would be able to fulfil the base level requirements of the position
- must be full time with minimum pay ~$53,900 and minimum 2 yr contract
- employer must advertise for 21 consecutive days on a variety of platforms (Seek, eRecruit, JobActive )
- pathway to employer-sponsored permanent residency after 3 yrs
- usually takes 1-2 weeks to process if employer accredited and no other issues
- govt fees:
- employee ~$AU2490 plus additional fees for family members (who have unrestricted work rights)
- employer: TSS visa nomination cost is $1,800 per year of nomination in addition to an administration fee
407 Training Visa
- employer-sponsored temporary work visa to provide structured training
- at least 30hrs/week (can be unpaid honorary using Form 1284 but must demonstrate financial independence)
- up to 2 years
- takes 4-12 weeks to process
- at end of visa period, can either consider:
- new training Visa application, or,
- TSS Visa application
- govt fees:
- employee ~$AU285 plus additional fees for family members (who can work up to 40hrs/fortnight)
- employer $172
417 or 462 Working Holiday Visa
- temporary work visa whilst holidaying
- takes 4-8 weeks to process
- 18-30yrs old
- 12 months, with up to 6 months work with one employer
- must be genuine visitor with work income as incidental supplement to pay for their holiday
- family members not included in Visa
- at end of visa period, can either consider:
- a training Visa application, or,
- TSS Visa application
- govt fees:
- employee ~$AU460
- 417 or 462 depending upon country of origin
